Alocasia Melo / Rugosa / Rhino Skin

INTRODUCTION:

Similar like most of the Jewel Alocasia especially when it comes to the Dragon Scale types where the leaves are very hard - almost cardboard type of thickness and density - this one do not have different coloration - rather it does have one tone colors on the foliage.
It had been said that its native to Borneo and other surrounding regions around Indonesia.

Personally, it have been a mystery to me that not much research have been done as there appears to be some slight variation in appearance among this species. There is the Dark Green variety, the Blue Tone variety and the Mid-rib dense color variation variety (very much similar like Silver Dragon variety)

I must say, these are my observation so far - thus I can be totally wrong on this matter that these can be the factor of different lighting thus the plant change according the light received on its foliage. At times, just like a variegated plant - these too may have slight variation among the same plant and even harbor different hybrids within the same plant (however slight minute visible difference it may have in it's appearance)
Also the plant may also change based on the maturity of it's growth - it's been said that it can vary from jade to light blue tones, so far in my experience - I have not able to note the changes on their colors.

Other than the many different labels given by most plant vendors does add to the confusion, these are some of the names of the plants (listed above) either same or slight variation plant names

Apart from these - all their Care & Cultivation needs are very much similar like any regular Jewel Alocasia Plant.
