Ferns Updated

This turned out fine.
Earlier it was starting to get badly damaged - I was using the fishpond water and somehow it almost died..
That explained why half of my orchid collection together with other plants didn't survive.
I was not able to identify the cause of it and thought it was the strong fertiliser that killed them.

It was the unlearning
Just sticking to basic plain water and this thing had generated back to it's new leaves.

I got this fishtail fern growing in between the palm-oil tree leaf trunk..
It took awhile for this grow and to find a nice spot for it as it was leggy and wild.

The maiden hair fern is happy here..
Its slow but much of a survivor here compared to any other place in my garden

I found that putting this begonia with this fern makes a good combo.
They seemed to be good friend taking care of each other.

Ferns with Begonias

One ot the things about ferns is that they can become really a pest, which is in a good way - it means its very much agile and able to take any abuse and considered quite a hardy plant..
But it depends how you look at it.

Fluffy ruffle ferns are somehow has a gentle side and somehow forgivable when she lets her hair down. I had earlier reset the whole collection and hanged them by the gate side and planted together with Martin Mystery Bagonias.

It took awhile for them to regen but somehow they managed to stick together.
I almost lost a set of this begonia (it had shed all her leaves) I hope it regenerated... but I guess you might not had noticed it..

These are shaded plants but can handle a bright side area.
Too shaded - the begonia leaves will be in silver, brighter and the leaves are in burgundy.
Many of my friends had mistaken them for 2 different species - this begonia is able to change colours..

These only thrive with organic fertiliser - anything else can be too strong for them.
I would recommend if you desire to do a mix & match - this would be a very nice ideal combo.

Or if you have any ideas with mix & match with Fluffy Ruffle Ferns or Martin Mystery Begonia.
I would really like to hear from you.

Fern Kingdom

The Ferns are making a comeback in my garden.
Practically my garden is totally green.
Green had started dominated all over again after I started gardening.
I guess its a guy thing - to consider foliage as an attraction
(Except for girls - flowers fall in their category,
but of course - we can beg to differ)

Anyway, the Long Green Cascading Leaves speaks volume to me.
Shade of course and the canopy style when in the tropicals..
That is the feel of extended feel of layers and layers of greens..
Just I like it - calling it a garden.

I forgot to mention
That in the big picture - its actually a Vertical Garden
The whole mass is Orchids,
followed by Bromeliads, Hoya, Dischidia and finally ferns filling in the blanks.
And that's how they made the come back.

They easily tuck in between the structure.
The root mass tightens and secure the whole Vertical Garden from collapsing,
especially from material where the whole thing could had rotten over the years.

And they do great keeping the equilibrium perfect.
Great shade from the sun for the orchids - regulate excess water off from them in case any plants are suffering from over-watering.
And if there is not enough water - these will show signs of withering and will comeback immediately after watering - sort of a visual warning.

They are indeed beautiful, this one is leathery
Quite durable and intricate in its design.
One thing for sure - if they are totally ignored
They can disappear.
I had lost few species - the sensitive ones
Not all of them are hardy.

Finally, this fall under the sensitive category:
The Maiden Hair Fern
They do well near a water resource area
Not too much water and not too dry - a right balance ensures a good success with this one.

Epiphyte Garden

One thing I can say about Epipthyte Set-up: It can really get messy.
Being neat is a great virtue for when it comes to gardening.
The plants however really don't know what is the meaning of it.
(blame it on the plants - you say?)

I wonder if that reflects the gardener - regardless, I enjoy plants that behave that way.
Its a control chaos kind of thing - All within their set boundaries.
As long as they don't kill another plant - that is going be a challenge but somehow since all of them are slow growers - its a bit on the manageable control in keeping the rest of of the gang in check.

Ferns can be quite a rowdy specially the Sword-ferns.
I had pulled out few as they truly shows their tantrums over the orchids.
Their roots fully invaded my Grammaphyllum orchid and I had to reset the whole thing.

Here Earth Stars are introduced in hangers and they are doing fine.
Another Bromeliad seemed to be happy in her sitting place and the ferns are well behaved and in their best in their designated locations.

Its difficult to say the outcome of it but I just have to go with the flow with this one.
And being neat?
Well, its a seasonal thing when I clean, cut and prune them to misbehave as the time goes by.
