Floral Blooms - Orange & Blue Mix

Sometimes opposite colours do make a strong statement.
I like these blooms - they are practically care-free.
Free from pest and disease - the only setback is that they can get a bit messy.
Anyway - just to show you how orange & blue can make a wonderful combination.

Plants: Blackberry Lily, Golden Dew Drop & Bush Clock Vine

December Blooms - Cattleya Orchid & Bush Clock Vine

I realised that these orchids tend only to bloom very close to year end.
Normally that takes place when it is raining continuously for 2-3 days in a row followed by an immediate hot & sunny days.

I must say that its truly unfair when I find that these seemed to bloom lavishly with multiple blooms, especially the ones that I had pasted my spares to most of my friends.

Regardless,
it did bloom in my garden and I'm still enjoying them during these few days.
I suspect this flower (usually it suppose to be more than one)
would last about few days to a week. It bloomed again couple of months back and I was too late to get the picture on camera.
The flower was not so glorious as this - it had a bud blast - prematurely dropped its bloom without opening when the rain season had started again without giving that sunny intervals.

The only thing I admire (or cause me to admire when I tell my friends)
are those spear like leaves.
Spanning like a blades cascading by the window plane.
The last two orchids were with me for few months back,
slowly coming out from dormancy.
I had not seen their blooms yet. Hopefully one day it would give me a surprise.

This is Bush Clock Vine.
I placed it closer to a shaded area and it rarely bloomed.
(not even one flower)
Here I placed it very close to my rose shrub and now it blooms profusely.
The only setback is that its very bushy and requires pruning time to time.

The blue with the yellow centre truly makes a whole plant screaming for attention.
I find that this plant is very much hardy and able to stand watering neglect.
(one reason is that its too far, spanned away to a distance where my watering hose can't reach the pot base)

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my gardener friends and my blog readers:

A Wonderful Christmas and A Promising New Year!
May the Coming Year 2014 bring more Success and Promises..
and Hopes and Dreams that come to Fulfilment.
And that God Bless Your Hand
that whatever you touch - Prospers and turn Fruitful.
Have a Blessed Week ahead during this Festive Season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Seasonal Blooms (Bush Clock Vine / Bromeliad / Golden Shower Orchid /Powder Puff Plant / Yellow Walking Iris / Blackberry Lily)

These orchids are the giant version of the normal Oncidium ones.
It was passed to me by my friend (pity his parent plant died)
I had doubts about this one as it is quite sensitive but somehow it had pulled through and gave me this enormous giant flowers!

These are the white Oncidium.
The normal ones are in yellow.
They too had started blooming during these rainy season.

These Blackberry lily had made a come back after a very long silence.
Its blooming together with my Yellow Walking Iris.

This had been passed to me by my friend and it is blooming so beautifully.

I had kept it in shade earlier but it never bloomed.
And it took awhile to get adjusted after few months before all these blooming.
I just love the flower bud - it reminds me of some berries.
These Powderpuff suppose to attract the nectar loving birds - but I have yet to see them drinking from these.

Finally Bush Clock Vine (below)
Its not actually a vine more like a bush.
It had finally started to give lots of blooms.
Earlier just like the Powderpuff plant - it was kept in shade and it rarely flowered.
Now it is just give so much grace with the blue blooms.

Blooms in my Garden

I love flowers in my garden. I'm not sure whether any other guys would confess such a thing. I rarely do come across where you would hear guys says that. But I think it's OK if it comes to gardening. I know few guys who would spend hours & days tending orchids and get mesmerised when the orchids bloom.

Even in the fairy tales you would hear in Beauty & the Beast where the Beast is devoted to his rose garden. Or the Story of Jack & the Bean stalk - if Jack was not a gardener - there wouldn't be a story to tell.

Its a year-end season and all of the Wish Bone Flowers had sprouted from the last year seeds (wherever the seeds had scattered - it seemed now its free flow sprouting) The best part is that new varieties of mix seemed to appear from everywhere. The one I show here is the white variety - notice there is no blue spray on it except on the sides?

Angelonias seems to be blooming now after I had trimmed and propagated them. They tend to get leggy and eventually mature and die - and it is important to do this or the whole species will just disappear from my garden. Now the place is quite crowded. I just have to find the time to reset the whole place again.

My Walking Stick Iris is blooming too.
Can you see a face on the flower?
Look from far and you will see the outline of the feature.
Amazing isn't it?
