Cane Begonia 'Snow Capped' - PART 2

INTRODUCTION:

I have written an earlier post on this in this topic extensive on the plant characteristics
Do check out more detailed information in that post in the link below:

I must say that it may not as grand appearing like the Cane Begonia "White Ice" where the colorations or the supposed dots are large and prominent. Perhaps it is due to the fact these are very much cultivated in the cold temperate zones where they may appear much significant in their appearance.

Hence this is one of the factors to realize that Cold Temperate Zone Begonias do not do so well in the lowland Climate Zone especially when it comes to rain and very hot dry low humidity level where it can easily scorch the leaves.

Another factor is plant care - it would appear to be like you are nursing this plant back from stress and truly it may appear that you need special apparatus like a terrarium set up in order to cultivate these especially like the ones from Borneo. Otherwise it would just perish and rot away.

Pictures Below:

Here you can see in comparison to the Begonia in the process of acclimatization, these pictures were taken from a nursery and even under the shaded conditions - these foliage appear to have some burned marks due to the stress in the change of climate zone.

I must say, that I have yet to truly see anyone say that they have managed to grow these without much care, a lot of attention is required when it comes to watering, feeding and humidity - too much or too less of anything can be detrimental for this particular begonia.

Unless in case if someone managed to cross breed this particular one with another hardy lowland climate zone begonia - there may be something to say that it can last and weather the storm, something like Cane Begonia Lucerna and Burning Bush - otherwise, these wouldn't last so long.
