Airplant - Gift from a friend

This was passed to me by my friend.
She mentioned that she got some spares and wanted me to have some.
I'm feeling so thankful and very grateful for her kindness.

I had manage to regenerate it.
Submerging and drying it of for few days until the size got bigger.
And eventually I glued it on a stick and tied in together with my collection.

After setting them.
I can't help but wonder..
Why they look so much like a moss.
Strange is it?
