One of the beautiful thing about having a garden
is to be able to enjoy the burst of life that is happening in this small patch.
I got a quick glimpse at this Garden Lizard
- carefully resting not to take too much of my attention while I was busy snapping photos.
Passion Fruit Vine had finally broke her silence and now going crazy on her flowers and fruits. It now take about 2 months for these to ripe. Still happily flowering and fruiting. And the joys of tasting them is going to take some time.
The other usual visitor is this Olive-backed Sunbird.
Often come and make a lot of noise - just to say that this garden belongs to her.
I'm guessing that they are territorial and therefore the noise was necessary.
Anyhow - they are just tame enough for me to get close to get some pictures.
Welcome to my Tropical Garden in Malaysia where the focus is mainly cultivating unique and colorful plants ranging from rare to common plants all around the tropical belt across the world.

Paradise Tree Snake
Where there is a garden, there tend to be a wildlife.
Mine is close to a jungle and these should be common
but somehow I found that they are now rare.
These pictures were taken some time ago.
During the hot and dry spell followed by the forest fire had driven these poor creature
to the edge of extinction.
If these were found nearby a housing area - they will definitely will meet the fated end:
killed without no reason.
Poisonous or not - people fear snakes.
And better be safe than sorry,
these creatures were not shown any mercy.
The story here is that one day on fine hot afternoon,
I saw something creeping through my bromeliad collection.
I thought I saw a tail and dashed to take my camera.
And manage to snap these.
Most of the pictures where of a low quality - these ones seemed ok.
Just as it came in few seconds - it's gone.
I guess it was just a nice time for me to get this one on camera.
What do you think?
Lovely like a Jewel?
Yes - its is mildly venomous but its poison can't harm us.
Its meant to kill small animals like frogs and lizards.
Of course - I dare not catch and play with it.
I wouldn't able to tell the difference if it was a viper.

Wild Life in the Garden
Birds used to be a common sight in my garden.
Its getting rarer now when most of the jungle above the hill side
had been cut down for more housing development.
The sad part about that is it is no longer cooler like before.
I believe the eco-system had keep the climate cool with all the greens.
Once there were like 10 of these in a flock and end up 1 or 2.
It is indeed a sad sight -
the only thing that I can do to encourage their population growth rate is
to add more nectar producing plants.
So far these birds frequent my garden every 10-30 minutes.
The dry spell that been taking place for few weeks is not helping either.
Of late these birds take a quick shower on the wet leaves after I water my garden.
You can see one of the birds is drenched wet washing itself on the wet leaf.
This is another rare visitor.
I never seen one here or would had thought they would had extinct in my part of the region.
This Oriental Garden Lizard is resting on my Bleeding Heart Vine one night in my garden.
It's a pity this reptile didn't find my garden pleasing to make as a permanent resident, as it would definitely had controlled all of my pest problems. (farming ants that brings scale insect and mealy bugs)
These group together under the passion fruit leaves.
I really wonder what tehy are up to?
I have been keeping these fry for sometime.
They have been doing well for few generation.
The only thing I have to do often is keep an eye on the water level. They tend to get low within a week's time.

Cat in the Garden
Its had not rained for few days and most plants are appearing to dry up (I have been diligently watering plants these few nights) then this morning, I saw this cat taking a drink from my water garden pot. I often seen many cats do, this time I managed to take some pictures.
I believe this is the male cat, the father of all the kittens that come and play in my garden.
Appeared to be very tame but I was getting late to go to work.

Fish in a pot
I had bought some baby carps for $1, (about 10 fish) and placed it in a pot with some aquatic plants. Wanted to do that for sometime and managed to get it done 2 weeks ago.
I had placed 4 water lettuce and the extras I had given to friends.

Kittens in my Garden - Part 2
Early in the morning, I was greeted by this little kitten,
she just came and curled around my leg.
I cannot help myself from carressing her..
and she so gently purred and let herself be pampered.
matured and badly needed a replanting.
I had got all my things ready and preparing to cut and replant.
And then..these three kittens came and invaded my attention.
They didn't let me do my gardening and had constantly disturb me.
Later, they got bored and played among themselves.
they just need to know what is been planted
their thorns are actually hairy..
guess these kittens just love to rub their nose on it for a carpet rub
"Im bored..."
catch each other tails...
My son was playing earlier in the morning and left his toys scattered around.
Didn't notice it until now.. (was wondering what the toys doing here???)
I guess you must be wondering what a screwdriver is doing here.
I couldn't find something to make a hole to place my plants.
(I found an old screwdriver and it had become my garden equipment eversince)
They then started playing at the pebbles..
Two of my neighbours asked me whether these kittens are mine?
I told them that they belong to someone else.
They just needed a spot to play and past their time there..
(Till now, Im not sure who are their owners but Im suspecting someone is feeding and taking care of them)
I had managed to tame them - as they were actually afraid of human
and react wildly when carried or touched.
Somehow, they are playful when come to my garden.
Note:
None of the cactus got damaged nor any of the kittens did their toilet at the soil..
so kind of them..
