Passion Fruit - Last Harvest

Its been awhile since I blogged.
Time just flies regardless whether you are ready for it or not.
And that ties up with the timeline with my plants - it was just nice to follow the progress from their flowering stage to their fruition period.

I was indeed worried about the harvest - more like not sure when to pick them.
Then over time I just realised - just pluck them when they are turning red.
(Easy for you to say...Well, It comes with experience)
I had lost many fruits due to not picking them on time and most of them fallen and had gone beyond my reach (into the drain - literally)

However, there were many more that I was able to share all of them to my neighbours and friends.
I now think my family had come to a place where they won't crave to eat this fruit.
Not anytime soon - hopefully not never - or else I may have to cut down these vines into a movable size and give it away.

Still, I do enjoy their occasional blooms - happens when I fertilise them heavy.
Regardless the outcome - Passion Fruit do live up to its name.
They do grow passionately and indeed its a wonder to behold:
The Flower and The Fruit.

Passion Fruit Vine - Update 2

Now its official.
All of my neighbours are eyeing on them.
I had mentioned to them that I will pass it to them to taste once its ripe
and manage to pass one and only fruit few months back
when the fruiting was so rare.
Now its very much spanning to 10-15 pieces provided nothing is loss.

The good thing about having nice neighbours is that they watch over the plant.
Just in case someone come close to this one - all eyes are at them.
Now the fruits are everywhere - its going to be tedious to properly capture them in hanging nets so that they don't fall off once its ripe.

Passion Fruit Vine - Updates 1 (Passiflora / Sunbirds / Firecracker Plant)

I still can't get over it.
Each bloom is so beautiful that I still marvel over them.
The downside is their fragrance - not sweet aromatic as I expect them to be.
Nevertheless - they do produce fruits which is indeed a big deal
compared to some cultivars / species of which they rarely do.

The Fire Cracker plant is in her own world
careless of who does what - faithfully serving the Sunbirds
This one is a male (much more active and too quick for me to capture on camera)
Somehow this time - I was lucky.

Passion Fruit Vine

One of the beautiful thing about having a garden
is to be able to enjoy the burst of life that is happening in this small patch.
I got a quick glimpse at this Garden Lizard
- carefully resting not to take too much of my attention while I was busy snapping photos.

Passion Fruit Vine had finally broke her silence and now going crazy on her flowers and fruits. It now take about 2 months for these to ripe. Still happily flowering and fruiting. And the joys of tasting them is going to take some time.

The other usual visitor is this Olive-backed Sunbird.
Often come and make a lot of noise - just to say that this garden belongs to her.
I'm guessing that they are territorial and therefore the noise was necessary.
Anyhow - they are just tame enough for me to get close to get some pictures.
