Water Jasmine - Wrightia Religiosa (SEED GROWN)

INTRODUCTION:

Sometime in the past.
I tried to uproot these together with it partial damaged roots.
Pulling them is a feat as the roots had embedded deep into the soil.
The rescue is another factor -
it appeared to be a failed mission
when these somehow find itself growing around abandoned areas.

When all these attempts fail.
I humbly planted them using seeds.
At first try - I manage to sprout 4-5 seeds.
It started a steady growth
and it took almost 4 years for it to start it's glorious blooms.

These are the pictures of initial growths.
The leaves are broad and long.
Somehow,
I really thought this is not going to work out
but I manage to persevere in constant pruning and stripping of the leaves.

Then finally one day....
It started blooming a thousand flowers.
The fragrance is captivating and the flowers lasted for few weeks.
Many people turn this into a bonsai.
They may enjoy few hundred blooms when its dwarfed...
but there is another joy to see it at my height and gives a reward of a thousand.

The price: the patience of waiting almost for 4 years.

PLANT TIPS:

Once the plant had grown to a considerable size, stripping down the leaves and trimming down excess branches will ensure lots of flower blooms as shown in these pictures below:

Also it can also be trained like a bonsai plant - here is very much my trial and error factor.

White Flowers in My Garden ( Water Jasmine / Mexican Sword Plant / White Oncidium Orchid)

WATER JASMINE (Wrightia Religiosa)

Wrightia Religiosa commonly known as Water Jasmine, also known as Sacred Buddhist, Wild Water Plum & Wondrous Wrightia. Its considered a sacred plant for Buddhist - as you can see even the name indicate it so (Sacred Buddhist) and (Religiosa).

Here, my Winter Jasmine had flowered graciously after their heavy pruning. I had downside all their leaves and keep them at bare minimum. I tried to age this plant doing some experiment in making it into a bonsai tree. Whether it is deemed successful or not - one thing for sure - the fragrance that floods in the evening is truly enchanting.

I had planted these from seeds. Now it is finally giving me the results. - the great reward for all the worth of waiting. I had 2 trees - One I kept (this one) and another - I passed to a friend.

He is more critical than me and had chopped off the whole branch leaving a few inches from the roots in making that an ideal bonsai - the problem is: The plant got dormant.

MEXICAN SWORD PLANT (Echinodorus palaefolius)

Echinodorus palaefolius commonly known as Mexican Sword-plant is truly enchanting when it gives out its spikes of flowers. Somehow there is always a new flower inflorescent at each buds everyday.

They last until late afternoon and I'm not too quick with my camera before the flower fades. This one is very much an aquatic plant, lacking of an adequate water at the base can be detrimental for this plant.

WHITE ONCIDIUM ORCHID:

My Orchid bloomed at the shades of the Spanish Moss.
Something that I admire the most here is that they seemed to create a symbiotic environment with each other. This orchid is unique - it turns to white when it matures.

Whites in the Garden

Its going to be difficult to explain when it come to colours especially when it is white.
You see - you don't really notice it.
Somehow the whole white thing falls into the background with the rest of the foliage greens and before you know it - its invisibly everywhere.
(or perhaps that's how it appears to my perception)

Again - when a bug sees it - Does it really see it in white?
I saw a documentary where when they see it in an ultra-violet light - these whites are actually brilliant blue.
Ain't that a beauty - transforming all my white into blues.
And again - in a science project that a white light can be split into a spectrum of a rainbow.
Now, Isn't that really a something to consider.

And all the while - I thought that white is only clothed by plants which gives focused in giving out its fragrance. I can't quite make sure why foliage too makes its colours.
Nevertheless - I love the shades of lime, cream & pink in my garden.

What is your White story in your Garden?
Love to hear that Snow white Story.
