Selecting Rare Indoor Companion Plants : Anthuriums & Schismatoglottis [Tropical Home Garden Plants] (Video)

Anthuriums Vs Schismatoglottis - Plants in Comparison.
How to create Natural Humidity with Indoor Plants - Tips & Hacks Best Home Garden Ideas

Do check out their Plant Features and their Varieties where they do very well as tight Garden Space Plants. These are basically my collection of Anthuriums which I have managed to collect and cultivate over the years. These are very slow growing plants - where the growth process is very likely limited as one leaf per month hence a lot of patience it required and also I had find that their leaves can easily get damaged hence a lot of care is required in cultivating these type of plant.

This particular type of Anthurium are very much cultivated for their foliage beauty - very much directed as an ornamental plant and also can be considered as a Rare Plant Type. Here in this video - I will be talking a lot of their many different variations in between their plant characteristics in their hybrid difference and what to look out for their unique features.

The identification factor is very much directed in noting all the special and unique features on these Anthurium plants.

Hot Red Blooms in the Garden

One of the joys of having this ground orchid is that its started blooming again after the 6 months blooming span. Its started after the 3 day heavy rain that took place this week with 2 new flower spike together with it.
I guess its a good thing to put them outdoor where they face the weather and spring forth new flower spikes.

These pictures (below) are taken 2 weeks ago before the rainy season. Still going strong since May (6 months in bloom ever since)

The Spicy Jatropha had a major pruning session. It was terribly infected with mealy bugs together with the farming ants. I tried to controlled it with insecticide time to time but they seemed to get the upper hand every time and bring forth major disaster as the flowers and new-shoots started deforming.

This time after the pruning - I placed them outdoors where they ants have no easy access to them and now they are blooming profusely.

These miniature Anthurium don't seemed to get back to their major many blooms instead just one at a time. Seemed like they are happy that way - not getting into the lime light of blooming. Though it happens discreetly the bloom does last very long.

I finally found a good place to put my Fire Cracker Plant.
There is however a big problem faced with their cascading effect when it appear to fall all over spilling from a standing pot giving that drunkard messy look in the garden of that want not - throw not factor.

Here happily cascading for the Sun birds to drink its nectar from and they are happy to hold on those flower branches.

I had isolated this Crown of Thorns as they do prove very hostile when it comes to their spiky thorns.
Nevertheless, they are also giving their beautiful cream blooms which is normally rare during the rainy cloudy season.

Anthurium

Apart from its difficult name - I always find it difficult to pronouns or spell it correctly.
Ant, Thursday and something that ends with an aquarium.
Well it is not like that...

Even the blooming time and care is quite challenging.
If they get too much sun - the leaves get burned but if they don't get enough sunlight - the flower never seemed to bloom.
What a paradox!

Nevertheless, these Aroids are from a family that comes with another host of other plants that have almost the same type of flowers and foliages - in this case the flower that have a cup-like-hood with a stick attached to it.

I guess breaking it down to laymen terms is much easier to understand that putting it with many different terms that it is just plain difficult as to say - Wordplay. (Guess, I'm no mood to play games when these stubbornly refuse to bloom)

The good side of the blooms is that these blooms last for many weeks to enjoy and they are indeed worth keeping (compared to orchids where they still don't bloom and when they do - they flowers last almost for a week or two)

Anyway, I do not have any tips to offer for these.
I do consider myself not so successful as they don't seemed to bloom according to my command
(well, I don't consider myself lucky for this one)
I guess the right lighting and placement makes a lot of difference which in a way its quite difficult as my garden is very much directed to the shaded side.

I still love these - they do compliment well with my Caladiums, Dumbcane & Syngonium (Arrowhead plant)
Somehow those are very much foliage featured and this one is very much - the flower side.

I guess fertilising makes the difference. I haven't handling that part of gardening very well.

(Guess it must be a phobia when every time I put some fertiliser - something in my garden dies - so I rather have a plant being alive in the garden but flowers rarely rather than dead)

Well, What do you think?
Would you have this plant in your garden?
What is your success secret?
Do share.
