The Fury of the Fire Serpent

“Fredrick, you must warn the council immediately!! ”,
Mariposa insisted as she dashed from the woods to warn him about the impending danger.

“Ohh.. come on,
you must be over exaggerating, all of the serpents had been slain by the knights”
with after thought,

“Even then, the remnants would have migrated to the Eastern Forest as they would have sought refuge there. It could be the drought that might have caused it, it didn't rain for some time? ”

“No, Fredrick, it must be the Sign. There can't be burned scar marks randomly here and there.
If what you say is true, there is another sign that accompany this the haze that never seemed to disperse. You must report this before its too late”

There was no sunlight for days, the flowers and plants was assigned to them to take care, It was a small assignment actually concerning the size of the garden and number of plants to be taken cared. Most of the work was done by the owner of the garden who was oblivious about these fairies and their work.

Fredrick took a sip from the flame violet nectar at the breakfast table, while contemplating what to do next and there was a knock on the door.

“Who is it?”
“The Winged Messenger's from the Council” came the reply.

Mariposa was furious,
“I told you to meet the council, now see what have you done. Quick, get the report and tell them that you are delayed as you were tending the birth of the seeds and overlooked the disaster”

She cleared the table and opened the door and was surprised to note the visitor.
“You are new here are you?”

“How did you know?” as he brushed the dust off.

“Well, it always the butterfly or the bees but you came mounting with a sunbird”

“I don't have time for this, I need Fredrick to come with me, the Council urgently require of him. As for now, the Gardener thinks that it is his fault on over fertilising it but now the matter is far greater than speculated.”

“So, its not the Gardener's fault, then was I guess must be true, the serpent had came back for vengeance! ”

“Ohh.. do shut up, Posa. You and your imagination” Fredrick retorted,
“Ok, lets go, see what the council have to say about the damage”
Fredrick took some supplies and mounted with the messenger flew off.

A moment later, there was another knock on the door.

“Who is it?”
“Its the messenger from the Council, its me Mariposa, flyfly.
I came to warn Fredrick about an impostor”

(to be continued...)

Ok, I have made that up.. I don't want to be too technical about my plants and say this what happens when one fertilise one's plant and get burned.

Actually I have no idea that a non-organic fertiliser can cause this damage. I only use a teaspoon of the red sphere shaped fertiliser and this what happens.

Been flushing the fertiliser off with lots of water these two days - hopefully my ground orchid survive. Also the other plant (Star Cluster) also got burned because of this. I guess I have to use this fertiliser very carefully (very small amount and only for selective plants)

Roses and Opals

This suppose to be my garden update for August but I guess Roses and Opals sound better.
Its amazing to note that my rose shoots gives out those maroon coloured leaves and all, infact all of my new shoots are in that colour, something nice to see in the sea of greens.

Along with it were those tiny little bells and flowers, these flowers bloom in the evening and they look spectacular, these Jewel of Opal are truly amazing. I had placed them side by side with the roses.(not so visible in this pic)

Also the Egyptian Star Cluster (the pink flowers) are at the height of blooming season. Its truly lovely to note all of them doing well. I was surprised that the red coloured one didn't survive, it slowly died in stages.

(Bottom last two pic)
I had planted 2 more coleus which I got from my mum, her particular species is aging and they too need replanting. Hope she manage to save them in time before they totally dry up. I also got a bunch of wormwood from my office mate which I manage to plant them. I'm still wondering what I'm going to do with this plant as they don't seem to fit nicely anywhere in the garden.

Egyptian Star Cluster - Pentas lanceolata (part 2)

This was my busy weekend (last week) in sorting and setting all my unorganised plants.
Somehow placing the right plants in the right places seemed to be the greatest challenge.

I managed to trim and replant my star clusters and set them into many small pots together with Moss rose, Jewel of opal (3rd) and Globe amaranath - all not so visible here. Hoping in few weeks these plants will bloom in their best.

My red Star Cluster seemed to be doing fine so far. I was not confident earlier when my mum passed me a branch of this type for me to propagate it. Finally it flowered and there was hope for this plant.
I will probably take another few pictures after few weeks. Hopefully all in full bloom.
I had experimented this one by pinching the smallest node and planting it and was surprised that it survived by the orginal water jasmine which was going on it didn't.

Egyptian Star Cluster - Pentas lanceolata

I got this plant from my mum. In fact this plant is sharing with other plants in several pots.
Anyway, My mum gave me one pot of it for me to try it out. I was not sure what is the best way to manage this plant as it becomes very leggy and leaves dries up and stays on the plant.

After few attempts I had found the best way to present this plant:

TIPS:
1) Hanging this plant doesn't work as when it matures it grows upright and so doesn't give the hanging look. (I had trimmed and replanted all these plants and removed from the hanging position)

2) When the leaves dries, it doesn't fall off, instead it stays on the plant. It is the same for the matured flower heads. (Pruning and deadhead trimming is a must to keep the plant look attractive)

3) If lacking water, the flower start to wither and the leaves turns yellow (very unattractive).
So, water management is considered very important for this plant.

4) The best part of having this plant is that the flower stay bloom all day.

5) Propagating this plant is also easy. Just cut the stem by 2 nodes space, remove the lower leaves and poke in the soil. I had experiment this plant by placing just the tip of the plant on the soil and found that it started growing!

6) Also its important to trim off the flower head when replanting as the plant will use its energy to grow the roots instead of flowering. (applicable for most flowering plants)

This two plants are from my mum's house (below). She had passed me a branch of the red coloured one. As for now I have managed to propagate few pots of the pink coloured type.

A poem

A sage meditating by the tree
and was harken by his disciples

Come and join us and be merry

Lets dance by the sea and crown ourself with joy...

and explore the joys of the charm and love..
away from sorrows of the strive and sufferings..

Lets build a castle of lavishness around ourselves
and celebrate...

As the days grows old
and the all may fade away
in tomorrow's sun.

But the sage refused and remained..
All that was there was passing of one flower to another..
and memories of the stones that washed by the river
sang her songs..
where flowers bloomed...

remained by another life sprung again..
another cycle of life...
another dream..
and flower..
and one song..
