Cane Begonia "Looking Glass" vs Cane Begonia "Frosty"

CHARACTERISTICS:

These fall into the silver toned begonias - do note that unlike other types of green pigmentation begonias - this one does struggle a lot to grow vigorously. Hence a lot of care and feeding is required to cultivate this types.

Just to list the similar types that fall into this category:

Cane Begonia "Looking Glass" - deep dark midrib veining

Cane Begonia "Frosty" - thin lining on midrib veining with longer leaf span

Cane Begonia "Maurice Amey" - silver appear to be in small tiny dots in appearance by the background

Cane Begonia U549 - Fully flushed silver coloration

Plant Care can be tricky and in most case can be challenging as they don't do so well exposed to the elements. Too much sun and water on the leaves may cause scorched marks and burns. These are truly shade loving plants and their potting medium must be poros where it should not hold too much water - fast draining and yet should able to contain enough water for the plant as well as enough room for the roots to breathe.

Basically when it comes to Silver Begonias as such as this - once you get the hang of cultivating one type - the others are fairly easy. I had noticed that these do not do so well when it comes to handling stress - they quickly succumb to rot and perish hence do take note that they do not handle well in extreme cases of sudden change of weather or growing condition, especially factors like humidity - if they are not happy, they tend to drop off all of their leaves and it may be too late to safe anything.

One of the factor that I noticed is that these do very well in highland / cold temperate zones however they can be acclimated to lowland climate - with proper care and patience - these may grow but I doubt that can easily thrive in a hot and wet conditions.
