Sg.Buloh Nursery Shopping - Cactus

It is indeed a joy to get them.
(the reserve is true when they die)

I braved myself in getting the Rosemary
and planting them together with my cactus and succulents.
Watering them once a week seemed like a good plan
as I manage to survive and grow some cuttings.
(more of a trial and error factor and found that weekly watering works fine with them)

This time - I manage to get Living Stone plant (Stone crop)
It was a bit expensive - RM10 but I think its reasonable compared to the size of the plant. It would had taken ages for them to grow by seed.

I also re-pot and separated all these and sorted them respectively in their own spots.
So far - after checking yesterday (5 days later) the looked ok.
I guess its more like 2-3 weeks that I can truly say that they had adapted well in my garden.

Currently there is this strong dry spell these few days.
Normally I water my garden once or 2 days once but now I have to do it twice a day.
Hope this doesn't change anything for my hardy plants in my balcony.

Succulent & Cacti - Balcony Garden Update - 3

One of the things I love about the Mother of Thousands is that succulent leaves.
They are so perfectibility smooth almost shining with babies tucked perfectly at the edges.
And if they face some sort of heat wave - they give that leopard skin patterns on the leaves.

I wonder if they are actually barren cactus.
I got them from Giant Supermarket for RM6 each plant.
They seemed to be doing just fine.
Of course - I will try to put in some succulents and cacti in nooks and corner.
Any small space is still precious for me.

Here are the others - the normal ones.
I can't say how to set them - the best I can do is just hope the just grow gracefully.
Desert Rose seemed to be happy here,
but of course - I would be happier to find them if they ever flowered here.

Now there are so many of them which are randomly growing here and there.
It would be cruel to say that its a jungle out there,
especially for cactus and succulents.
Nevertheless, I still like it this way.

Succulent & Cacti - Balcony Garden Update - 2

This one proves challenging,
I had placed Hawarthias before but 3 of them had gone rotten.
I replace with some Agaves and Mother in law Tongue
hoping that they would suck up all the excess water and moisture from that little pot.
I realised that this place seemed to take more time getting drier compared to the rest.
thus the soil were more damp than others.
I added the companion plant - Fittonia and found them doing fine.

At the round pot (previously was a waterlily pot)
faces a new challenge where these bulb based plants seemed to take the lime light (seriously)
When something overgrows - chances of it overshadowing another could lead to another problem - death of a slow growing plant.

Earlier I faced a similar problem
where mother of thousands conquered the whole place
and I had to remove all of them only to find that the were almost killed few of the cactus there.
I guess it the survival of the fittest in the plant kingdom.

Succulent & Cacti - Balcony Garden Update - 1

I found a great interest in seeking for plants that quite withstand the same hardiness just like succulents. More on the basis of trial and error - I found that Jewel of Opar, Chives, Moss Rose, Asparagus Fern seemed to be happy with weekly watering.

Also in this friendship list -
I found that Rosemary is happily doing well in this condition.
The plants that I received as gifts from Australia is also doing fine.
There are no visible of huge growth but
any plant that shows that is surviving is a big deal for me.

Plumeria seedlings seemed to do well too.
I had recently snap break their leaves
(secretly hoping that they don't grow too big and fill the pot)
Just beside it is the Cardboard Palm which I find that they are very happy together.

Angels and Fairies for Cacti Garden

What can I say,
I'm totally in love with Angels and Fairies.
I used to collect a lot of them buying whenever I can set my eyes on them.
Some are memorable gifts, others are purchased from various gift shops.
What I totally love about them is their timeless,
speak volume about the cactus and succulent which I currently have.

Maybe its the unseen world out there.
However mysterious it may be.
They grace my small little balcony garden during this festive season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
