Orchid Blooms

These bloomed within the short span of time.
The weather had been extreme in these few weeks made the temperature difference
stressing these to bloom.

Regardless,
I still had not enough time to fully enjoy their blooms
and their exclusive fragrance that often made my day.

Some orchid species though never seemed to bloomed
ever since I had introduce them in my garden.
Some had totally rotten and died due to unforeseen shock that had occurred.
Its either crown rot, root rot or vermin attack.

Often its compulsive buying that I end up regretting
as I never actually witness them in second blooming.

Except for these orchids - I'm just going to maintain them for their visual display.

Feeding had played a major role in this floral display.
But again, coming into the right regime proved challenging
due the unpredictable rainy season that often wash off the foliar feeding
in that few hours after application.

Sometimes,
zealously I had overdose it and I'm guilty of overfeeding
causing some burns on the roots and leaf structure.
The ones that survived, bears many blooms.

Of the many orchids,
these constantly bloom with a longer spike.

My pride and joy of constant bloomer.

This is my overall display of orchids
which I had placed them in plastic coke bottles
stuffed with Styrofoam and some common organic material
(coconut chips, charcoal and broken pottery)

I had realized that these roots don't seemed to like root bound inside the container.

Forcing them in re-potting had cause some of them to their early death.
Leaving them be seemed to be the best solution of these.

This is the first time bloomer - Aerides species.

Has a very nice fragrance too.
Lasted about few weeks regardless the weather and truly enjoyed them in my garden.

This is another new bloom - Doritis orchid the white variety.
Rarely blooms but does know how to make a statement.

Well, these are the orchids that makes the show in my garden.
Do let me know what you think?

Anosmum Orchid

I find this one is a sneaky one.
It gives out fair amount of spikes but rarely blooms.
This bloomed happened so fast and disappeared in few days..
And it happened when I started giving them the liquid fertiliser and it surprised me with a singular bloom.

What surprised me is that it came with a lady like figure.
And angelic apparition
Can you see it?

Dendrobium Anosmum Orchid

It been ages and I had almost gave up on this orchid.
(Gave up means - leave the plant along and let it to grow and crawl everywhere.)

I think it was almost 5 years I had this plant.
(after exaggeration - lets say about 2-3 years at most)

It was given to me by a friend who insist that I should try my hands on them
(together with some tongue twister for their botanic names - I still haven't learnt to pronouns them well nor had learned to appreciate their aesthetic beauty - yet...)

This was one of it - I often get them mis-spelled. Anonsum, Anonsumum..
As long as Anon lost his mum - I guess its OK for this Orchid.
More frustrating is the waiting..
You will never know when it flowers - but when it does.
Its all worthed it.

Suddenly  - I feel that I'm an expert for making it to bloom
(Actually - nothing extra-ordinary done except for the irregular watering & fertilising regime)

I got to sets of blooms - the first set that lasted for few weeks and when it done another cane gave out another bunch of flowers for another few weeks.
The fragrance was very fruity more towards morning and evening.
The fragrant didn't emit on the first few days of bloom - I wondered whether it was scent-less.
Regardless - I still love those furry petaled flowers.
The dark-coloured insides somehow give a cool focal point to my evergreen garden.

I hope the canes reproduce more flowers from the same point - it would be a pity to find them only spend flowering once and the whole cascading cane waste away.
We shall see - if it reblooms after this season.

After its bloom - a small keiki appear from the cane (last pic)
