I had noticed that there are so many hybrids and cultivars introduced currently in the nurseries that it is quite a challenge to collect of them them. Indeed these beauty are stunning with upright flowering spikes that does best in open sun area. These flowering plant has a snapdragon kind of feature.
Common names: Angelonia, Willowleaf Angelon, Angel Mist, Summer Snapdragon & Angel Flower
Botanic name: (varies based on different cultivars)
Angelonia biflora, Angelonia angustifolia, Angelonia Salicariifolia
At this point, I doubt I'm going to pursue identifying their specific difference as they are very unique in color and features.
Light: These are sun worshipers.
They require the direct bright open sunlight for good blooming formation.
Watering: Good heavy watering - Lack of water may cause the plant to go limp and burned. If it is too late, the flowers will be burned out and may take few weeks for new regeneration of buds to appear. Not a drought plant, therefore do take care in daily maintenance in regular watering.
Propagation:
These are robust growing plant. They grow well in stem cuttings.
I had not found any seeds from these flowers.
Lifespan is short for this plant (3-4 months) therefore trimming & replanting is necessary in keeping this plant long-term in the garden.
I had found that the white variety and deep blue variety seemed to hardy compared to the red colored ones. Heavy Feeding is required to ensure good floral display.
These are currently what are available in Sg. Buloh nurseries. These are easily available and sold with individual pots with various colors of white, pink, light blue and dark blue. There also mix colors in a singular flower which are rare but sold separately as they are introduced time to time based on their availability in the market.
