Alocasia Azlanii

CHARACTERISTICS:

I must say Alocasia Azlanii would be my most expensive plant I had every purchased for my plant collection. This particular one is from a plant collector who sold me a tissue cultured one - he did mentioned to be the plant is quite flimsy and sensitive in comparison to the one with a tuber one.

Due to the high price - I just purchased this for a try out and see - if it fails on my hands - I would not have to weep and wail over it, as for now after about a month - it still doing ok but few of the leaves had dried off without any new promising new ones which is quite a worrisome subject to think about.

CHARACTERISTICS:

Very similar like the Alocasia Infernalis where that one as all black foliage with glossy sheen this one - Azlanii is very elegant with red veins and a little resembles like a Cuprea leaf structure.

It does appear to be like a hybrid of both of Alocasia Infernalis and Alocasia Cuprea but I'm pretty sure this one is actually a hybrid. There are not much research information concerning this one. It may be save to say that this one is endemic to Borneo - similar to most Jewel Alocasia origins.

I had recently sprayed fungicide and pesticide over these foliage to deter any attacks - or else you would be viewing a nice glossy black sheen leaves in these pictures. I hope the plant picks up and exhibits much more refined features in the feature - once it does, I would update those pictures as my updated follow up.

I believe Azlanii can be considered one of the rarest forms of Alocasia and may prove difficult to cultivate as it is a slow growing and a sensitive plant and may not recommend it any new beginners if they do not have any experience caring for these types of Jewels.

Do share your thoughts on this as I would love to know what is your experience and thoughts about this particular one.
