Garden Landscaping - Calathea sp.

This is species can be easily overlooked and missed as the colours and stripes blends
so well making an excellent combo with other plants
that you will not able to notice them specifically as a striking plant.

They can die easily and may not recover from shock
as they have a dense root ball which are not easily separable.
This is one of the challenges on propagating them
and I would consider not to disturb them
unless they have overgrown and choking over the small pot.

They don't do well on conventional common fertiliser
and so one must be very careful on feeding them
as they can get burned very easily if a strong fertiliser is used.
I would recommend a light foliar fertiliser once awhile,
once they had established
- its a fair beauty to behold especially the arrays of colours like peacock feathers.

Hi James, the one with a narrow leaf in the fourth picture is a Stromanthe Tricolor.
