The Chicken & Her clutch
I was wondering what would had happened to those chicken.
Did they end-up as chicken soup or something?
Just then in few days I noticed this family passing by my house in the morning.
I was glad to note that the family was intact.
The Mother hen seemed to recognise me as so was not so defensive like the last time.
There was 2 babies missing so I'm not sure what happened to them.
Now is just the mother and the 7 chicks.
A friend of mine mentioned that if the chicken hatched in your property it is considered yours. Well, its nice to know that, but I really don't think I would want to take ownership or wage chicken wars with my neighbours.
Again, I really do not have the time to care or rear these chickens - let alone, not enough time to garden and take care my family. What more to consider another few more mouth to feed.
Somehow - the word "chicken feed" seemed to me more complex in this context.
Well, I guess all is well and safe for this fine handsome family.

So, do they just wander the neighborhood?
We lived on a farm once that had a feral chicken. We never fed it. It survived the winter intact. It was so wild you couldn't get near him. Keep us posted!
Wow these chickens are surely happy. Those in the farm do not get to move around like them ;-) They look so united and happily together as a family and I hope that none of them will end up in the soup ;-(
Some people in the south call chicken "Yard bird". I like your photos.
Rosey
Sue - Yes, they just wander about during the day. At night they return to the neighbours house 3 houses away from my home.
Steph - soup? I agree with you.
But then, its the owner who decides isn't it.
(probably keeping them until they grow up)
Rosey - thats interesting "Yard bird".
Thanks.
