I normally take an afternoon walk during my lunchtime (sort of making up for my lack of exercise during weekdays) and so I spotted a wonderful looking immaculate bougainvillea.
Again, this is one of my blind spot (until I just realised how wonderful they actually look in these pictures)
They are actually the variegated bougainvilleas - somehow in the midst of the variegation, the pure ones stood up in the heavy shrub.
These pictures are taken by the riverside leading the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)
I have also taken the pictures of the man-made shallow waterfalls together with the weeping willows.
Its sad to note that this place had not been maintained properly as I notice garbage everywhere.
And a little eerie (a kind of ill-feeling) that I didn't venture further in discovering this place.
Regardless, I hope you enjoyed a little afternoon view that I had experience. I had spotted some guys fishing, (actually he got few large fishes) a tortoise and a heron - but they all very far and fast to be captured in my mobile phone camera.

Pretty place to take an afternoon walk! That river is lovely. It's so sad that people are so disrespectful as to throw their garbage, isn't it? It's always nice to see green spaces in the city, though.

Loved all of the photos James - those white flowers against the variegated leaves are just awesome - I've never seen these offered for sale in the UK. From a distance it reminds me alittle of the Cornus wedding cake tree foliage.

yes i love the variegated and white leaves also, must be nice to have nice long walks like this in spite of the neglect.
When seen from a distance, I would have thought that it is white bougainvilla flowers in the first picture. They are actually snow white leaves which are very pretty. Nice shot of the willows against the skyscrapper. And did I see a mini waterfall in our city river?
Hi, James. I love bougainvillea, but it has one major problem - thorns! I have to wear heavy duty clothing in order to keep it under control.
too bad about the trash. I rarely see people just drop litter, but I'm always stunned when I do. I can't believe people think that's OK.
Aside from that, the place is really nice! I loved seeing your watch mark the lunch hour. A great idea to walk every day! The plant is really beautiful.
Hi James, do you know the secret in planting bougainvillea with red and white flowers in one plant? Stems with white flowers when planted will eventually produce red flowers, but the stems with red flowers will produce mostly red and only very seldom or not at all will produce the white ones. That's because of the dominant and recessive genes.

I'm really surprised of that variegated bouganvilleas, and of course double suprised of that white leaf form.
Here in Spain we only know the green leaved. I hope that the new ones arrived soon.

Actually the white leaves somehow emerged due to some generic varigated factor, normally they do not appear at all except giving that basic varigated colour.
Here is probably the plant is just too big and not well maintained and pruned.

Bougainvilleas make wonderful plants for every gardener as it is hardy and blooms profusely especially when the climate is hot. Just curious, what about the eeriness of the place? In the past, botanists would brave treacherous terrains and raging seas to collect valuable botanical specimens. Their spirit is worth our emulation:)

Alfredo - Its true concerning botanist discovering new species and their spirit of adventure must be celebrated.
I talking about the eeriness where you find yourself looking at the "evidence" where you are walking into a den of robbers or drug addicts. And certainly - it that context, you will trust your instints rather than regret thinking, "I should have listened to myself" factor.
I see. In your previous posts, you mentioned that you had no luck growing orchids. Perhaps you could try growing Brassavola nodosa(aka Queen of the Night) or Brassolaelia. Both are not fussy and emits a pleasant citrus scent at night. My Brassolaelia has been rewarding me with blooms since I bought it a year ago") All the best!
