Cactus Flower

This one bloomed just last Thursday early morning. I noticed the flower bud sticking out at the annex of the cactus plant - never realised or ever hoped that this one would flower in my balcony.

By the time I got my camera, the flower had already spend.(last pic) Well, At least I can still be satisfied with some remnant of what it would be called a glorious flower.
Regardless, I manage to snap some pictures from my handphone camera but the quality is not so satisfying.

I could say, this one is almost 7 years old & finally it had decided to bloom after all those years - Amazing.

What a delicate beauty amidst the harsh looking thorny greens!

Beautiful bloom! Is this one of the night-blooming cacti (such as Echinopsis spp. or Trichocereus spp.)? The blooms look so familiar.

That's wonderful! How long did it bloom? Does it have any fragrance?

It is such a beautiful flower! It is shame that a flower this beautiful only lasts so short. But probably that is why it is so precious!

How lovely. I am glad that you did have a camera to capture this beautiful, short-lived flower.

Aaron - these are about 7 years plus. I guess they grow taller by the years.

Floridagirl - yes, these are night bloomers -they seemed to be at optimum by early morning but tend to fade by the sunrise.

Belle - I guess - one day, Didn't check the fragrance though, by the time Im back from work - its all over.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments.
