Colocasia esculenta 'Black Coral' - Part 1 (UPDATED 2022)

INTRODUCTION:
DATE: 21ST MARCH 2020

I had recently purchased this small little plant (almost 2 leaves plant) that cost me RM20.00
It is indeed an expensive plant and not easily available in most nurseries and very much sought after.
Also I realized that this is a slow growing plant that may require good feeding regime to make this plant grow to maturity.

This one has similar characteristics and needs similar to Black Magic but has much darker and vivid coloration but may not do well in shaded areas as they turn back in green shades. Once revert back to bright sunny area - they return back to their former glory of dark coloration.

However the plantlet was too small and fragile and didn't survive through.

UPDATE: YEAR 2021

I had managed to exchange my Colocasia Black Ripple for Black Coral and after few months - the plant had stablize and doint very well. Here is the pictures to see the comparison for ID purpose.

Do check and read through on the details information on
Care & Cultivation on Colocasia on the Main Page - Link provided Below

CHARACTERISTICS:

This particular Colocasia have very strong similarities like Black Ripple Colocasia however the leaves do not have any ripple effect on them. Also this particular one does not have a glossy effect rather very much behave like a darker version of "Black Magic" however, it does not turn green when lacking bright sunlight - "Black Magic" however will revert to green tones when lacking the required sunlight.

The veining however does have slight glossy effect in appearance especially the central main midrib areas on the foliage surface. Also the leaf stem appears dark in coloration in comparison to Black Magic and Black Ripple.
