I would recommend to cultivate this beautiful rhizome begonia.
It is mostly in lavender tones,
darker veins spreading from it's center with iridescent shades of violet and pink.
Truly a sweet plant.
It takes a while to establish a stable growth but when it does, the foliage folds in like a cascading effect - layers of layers bringing a kaleidoscope of mirrored colors which is truly remarkable.
I must admit that I had killed this plant a couple of times until I got it right.
And therefore, I must say that it does take a lot of patience and persist on the gardener to cultivate this begonia - even after doing everything right, this plant can die a sudden death and so, it's always important to have a spare plant / cuttings or a leaf propagated somewhere.
Just in case if this one dies on you.
This is a Rex Begonia, known as Begonia - Fireworks.
I had recently purchased and hoping that it would fairly do well just like the rest of the family knitted together.
This begonia do not have showy flowers however it does have a pendant type cherry like flowers.
Always hidden underneath the leaves.
Here is the link where I had put together a list of all the begonias that I had come across. A database of all the different types & their characteristics. Please click on the link on the title above for the post.
