Begonia - Candy Stripe

This particular rhizome begonia shows an outstanding feature when receive better indirect sun.
The more light it receive, the more redder it gets.

Somehow, this particular one is hardy but also can die easily when neglected.
Do give room for it to grow properly as it will take space for the leaves to spread out.

Considering this one - I would give as an easy one to cultivate for Beginners plant for Begonia.

The more sun it gets, the more redder it gets.
One that shines more red and hardy than most Rex Begonias.

Also I had noticed some plant vendor had called it Begonia 'Malaysia'
I'm guessing that it is because it has the appearance of the national flag.

Leaf propagation is easy and stable with this one.
I would recommend it if you have a huge plant.
Do propagate and have spare plants as they can go dormant and suddenly disappear.

Another thing that I noticed is that this particular begonia doesn't fair well in heavy shaded areas. Somehow it looses the red pigmentation in this area. So do take note to put them in bright shade.

One of the best thing to do is making this begonia in combination with another black.
Truly looks exclusive.

Here is the link where I had put together a list of all the begonias that I had come across. A database of all the different types & their characteristics. Please click on the link on the title above for the post.
